DECORganize is the #1 Most Effective and Long Lasting Organizing Method for Creative Types!

  • Are you a creative type of person that gets bored easily?
  • Loves beautiful things?
  • Highly visual?

After organizing homes for 10 years now, I decided there had to be a better way for people that love beauty, are hands on, and like to have fun, to get organized without boring them to tears. I'd organize for people and then after I left, it got cluttered again. Sound familiar?

I started incorporating decorating with organizing and was ASTOUNDED by the results!

First of all, when you think you are going to decorate your home (either by yourself or with a decorator), that thought is so much more enjoyable to think about then spending a Sunday organizing your garage. Boring.

DECORganize takes the “burnout” of organizing, putting the fun back in with decorating principles.

I used to sit with clients for hours over boxes of papers. It was such a drag.

Now, I tell people we are going to decorate their office and voila' those papers magically disappear (Well not exactly but I'll tell you how it works)

But you've been trying to get organized for years! Buying the books, containers, subscribing to newsletters. How is DECORganize different?

If you are like many people who traditional organizing methods (sort, purge, sort, purge) have not worked for, you may be creative, fast-paced, full of ideas, often shift from onething to another, and not really sticking to any particular system.

Do you lose interest easily, seeming inconsistent to others, have a hard time focusing? It is torture for you to think about working only on one thing at a time.

BUT, you do love beautiful things and want them so much, you will go back to the store even after you have already left and get it.

For you creative spirits, DECORganize is perfect for you. In fact, is was designed especially for you! For people that love design, decorating, and beautiful homes.

DECORganize solves the problem of trying to get people to even want to get organized to begin with; something professional organizers have to do.

I have found that when people (especially creative people) create beautifully decorated small areas or niches in their homes before even thinking, "Do I use this? Do I need it?", they are then motivated to organize and stay that way.

It may sound backwards. Decorating and rearranging before organizing? It kind of is. But it provides INSTANT rewards and DECORganize gratification and that is what peoplewant today.

I stand by my method even if you think it is backwards.

My client loved the results so much that she was able to buy her dream home and sell the one we had worked on. She had been looking but before working together was unable to get "unstuck".

People who have not been able to organize in the past are most likely creative people. They like beautiful things and have dreams in their head of how they want their home to look. Yet, following systems seems boring to the creative person, and setting up systems is typically what traditional organizing methods require. For these people, I prefer to think of creating beautifully, clutter-free, decorated areas rather than systems. Systems will come naturally when they walk by the areas and love them, thus inherently motivating to keep the areas consistently clear. No more ‘organizing is a drag’ thinking.”

DECORganize works especially well for people that have not been able to organize even after a long while. A lot of my inspiration came from one client, in specific, battling mental illness. For 15+ years, organizing had not been “in the cards” for this woman. Finally, after going through a treatment program which talked a great deal about self-care and beautiful surroundings, this woman called me for a “blitz” or DECORganizing. Adding color and using her own possessions for rearranging and redecorating, the woman says she is now able to keep herself organized because there are areas in her home that are as she calls them, “Sacrosanct. I would never clutter up these areas now. I work to keep clutter out of these spots.”

So even if you think you are the most cluttered, unmotivated person, DECORganize will change that.

But what if you don't even know how to decorate?

Sure you love it. But you don't know the decorating rules and principles.

No sweat. You do not have to go to interior design school. What I used to get started was the Decorate-Redecorate Interior Design Training. Remember. I am not a certified Interior Designer, I just have a good eye, like you. So I used Barbara's program because it was the most thorough, user friendly, and most economical program out there.

Anyone can learn to decorate and redecorate and getting Barbara's books is the first step to starting.

Read through it, and understand your options.

The Next Step

Decide which room is most important to begin loving? Start small. If you need more ideas of what and how to create the little areas, cut pictures that you love out of home decorating magazines.

How about starting with your bedroom? I like to start in the bedroom because where you sleep is where you recharge, get inspiration, connect with your partner etc. It is the basis for everything else that happens in your home. If you are not happy, no one else in your family will be happy.

Start with a clean slate and start small if you are currently living below clutter. Maybe just your bed you’ll DECORganize™.You can use 4 boxes or even laundry baskets, and trashbags for putting all surrounding clutter away.

Move all the clutter around the bed or in the bedroom into one of these containers. If you don’t want to sort now, then literally take your arm, and go around sweeping all clutter off of your dresser tops, nightstands, and the floor…into a box. Get it out of site. You’ll deal with it later.

Rearrange furniture in the most beautiful way. Go find pillows and a bedspread you love and add color to your bedroom.Don’t waste time figuring out the best way to do this. Decide on a plan of action-ex. You have until Wednesday by 3PM to go to HomeGoods and pick out a beautiful bedspread with coordinating pillows.

If you are not sure it is going to match, put something you loveon the bed. You can always change it later. It doesn’t have to coordinate with anything else in the house. Just do it.

Or if you think you have something around the house that can serve this purpose. If you do have things lying around that couldpotentially decorate the bed and you want to buy new ones, then you need to force yourself to purge at least the same amount of things you are buying.

Yes! You now have an area that is beautifully decorated.

So what about the clutter I shoved somewhere else?

Your space is gorgeous! My experience is that once a space is decorated, you are not even going to want to put your clutter back into that space.

When you walk by your dressing area with a makeup table, reading corner, or a Martha Stewart like linen closet, you are not going to clutter it up again, believe me.

That's why DECORganize works so well.

What do I need to do to get started?

1. Decide what room you will decorganize
2. empty out an area
3. Decorate it!
4. Decide to go through the old clutter LATER by sorting it, purging it, and then deciding where it will go.
That's it!
